If you're like most unpublished writers, you're used to people lying to you. You know who I mean: the conferences and coaches and rip-off agencies who promise you that all you need is an introduction to an agent or editor, or a "polish" by their experienced staff. They're the ones that tell you that editors won't look at a manuscript that hasn't been professionally edited. None of this is true. At some level, whether you're willing to admit it or not, you know that. They're selling false hope and preying on those cognitive dissonances that exist in every writer. Are you ready for the truth?
